DDS-CAD Electrical 6.4 - New Features
Intelligent Snaps
The latest version of the software, DDS-CAD Electrical 6.4 incorporates many new and innovative features which improve your productivity, efficiency and professionalism. Here is a list of the key improvements:
A new concept which allows objects to automatically snap to lines and other features has been added to the software. As you position an object in the model, the software automatically detects features which you may wish to use for the placement, or reference point for the object. This can be for example the centre point, section point etc… Details of the snap points are now identified on-screen as you move around the model. This makes the positioning of objects within the model significantly easier, improving your productivity.
In addition, if you hold down the Ctrl key, the object will automatically rotate to the same axis as the wall, line or other model feature you wish to use to position the object. This removes the necessity to manually rotate objects to match the wall or other feature that they are placed upon.
If you activate the context menu during object placement (by using the right mouse button), you will now see a series of options giving you complete control over the positioning of the object.
Intelligent Object Grips
All objects in the model now display a grip point once they are selected. This allows you to grab an object at this grip point and reposition it quickly and easily.
When an object is selected, the right mouse button context menu will display a series of options associated with that object, allowing you, for example to create a copy of the object, or access its property dialog.
User Interface Enhancements
The main toolbar of the application now displays the “global” functions associated with managing the model, for example layer display, 2D/3D views and access to the overall building properties. Controls associated with the current working mode of the application are now displayed on a floating tool palette, giving you quick access to the main functions related to the service you are working with, for example routing cables, placing components or editing cable tray and trunking.
This convention is common throughout all DDS-CAD products, and improves the usability and makes learning the product quick and efficient. The software has also undergone a visual refresh, and now supports Windows XP style menus and toolbars.
